Cons of Having a Home Server

Right now blackshell is down, and my parents are out of the town, so I don’t know what’s up with it.

I hate when this happens. I’ve been in Bilbao 15 months, and now a year and a half in Valencia, and the sensation when the server isn’t working it’s ever the same: what’s happening? is it the Internet connection? is it a hardware failure? damn it!

After more than two years being away from home (and my server!), my mother has proved to be a very good support technician. She knows to diagnose almost every problem (including LAN problems, it’s scary when she opens a terminal and does a ping).

The good part of this story is: if my mother can deal with Linux, you can. The bad one is that my server’s still down until they come back home tomorrow noon.

You can reach me anyway, just avoid using services related to the lost server.
