Uploading Photos to Flickr, and Holidays!
A week ago I was both packaging and complaining about it, because I wanted to develop a small application to upload pictures to my Flickr account and, at the same time, do some little bulk actions over them (such as adding tags and resizing, nothing complex).
I was a big F-Spot fan, and thanks to this great application I got used to Flickr: it was so easy to upload photos to my account. I even got PRO.
But after some time I realized that was the only one feature of F-Spot I was actually using, because I don’t see the point of having a photo album (and I’m kind of using Flickr for this).
When I moved to Fedora, there were some things missing by default, such as Mono and F-Spot, and I’m kind of a default guy and I don’t feel like installing all the stuff just to upload some pictures.
And that’s why I’m programming a little tool with Perl and GTK to to the dirty job (because both things are very bothering: uploading large photos with my clumsy Internet connection, and resizing every single picture with GIMP).
I’m working on it, so expect a fresh release soon, which takes us to the next point: I’m on holidays for a week!
That’s my first 5 days break this year, and I really need it. All the financial crisis and all the economical issues are being translated into less people to do the same work and more stress, and at least (but not last) less holidays.
I’ll be in Elche, and very likely offline most of the time. You know: if you want to hang out for a beer and chat about open source et al, send me an e-mail ASAP (or call me by phone, if you know it). Happy summer everybody!
