I tried to put some lyrics on it, but I failed. Probably because the verse part it’s too short.
Anyway, it’s not the style I like most so… who cares! Enjoy.
I’ve used my Telecaster guitar, Hydrogen for the drums and Ardour for recording and mixing. Linux powered, and the song is licensed CC BY-SA (you can download it in mp3 format).
This Polish band is simply awesome: pure 80s hard rock/heavy metal, licensed Creative Commons BY-SA. Check their latest album …to be rock and to roll… (distributed by Jamendo).
Apparently they failed to find a distributor for their work, I guess this kind of music is not commercial any more (because it was commercial, some examples are Mötley Crüe, Skid Row or the early Guns N’ Roses). I’ve never been interested in charts and billboards, but I wonder what kind of music sells today. It looks to me like there’s no place in the mainstream for sharp guitars and guys screaming in their glam rock pants.
It’s a pity, because I think they’re really good. Seems that after failing to release the album in a more conventional way, the singer left the band and it’s not clear if there’s any future for them beyond …to be rock and to roll….
Needles to say I strongly recommend you the album!
Another cool song made in the Kompoz community, with Mike Patterson at vocals (without willing to underestimate the rest of the participants). I really like Patterson’s style.
This is something I’m going to miss when I’ll be in Exeter, because it’s not feasible to take my instruments with me.
It’s probably I’ll get an ukelele. I know it’s not the same than playing guitar (electric and Spanish), bass guitar, mixing voices, etc; but it’s fun and you can use it to stress you out.
I have two weeks before leaving Spain, so I’ll try to play as much as I can. I don’t think my neighbours are going to miss me ;).
Kompoz is a very interesting project if you play a musical instrument, but you’re not in a band (thus, you play alone).
You know that I like to record stuff from time to time (I usually synth the battery, and I own a guitar, a bass, etc). OK, so that’s the ultimate spin of that hobby, because you can start projects (songs) and ask/wait for others to collaborate (adding the instruments or stuff you can’t add, like nice go-go’s :D).
Here’s an example, from 6 different users spread all over USA:
There’s been some time since the last record of the band. Bah, it’s just me. But this time is different because Alex gave me a pop filter (she’s so nice and cute :*, and I like the pop filter too).
I used to have a competition in my Spanish blog called ‘adivina la canción’ (guess the song), but after the time spent recording the song its name’s so obvious, that isn’t worth it (if don’t know the song, you’re probably from Mars… or don’t have music taste heh).
I must say I’m a very bad singer, and I’m more heavy than post-grunge-somewhat-punkie, so the song sounds different from the original (although the spirit remains the same).
It has been recorded with Ardour with guitar, bass, mic and a little 4 channel mixer. The battery has been tracked with Hydrogen. All together with my shiny Fedora 11, enjoy!
Update: there’s an ogg version of the song, just in case you don’t like Flash.
This is my first try to record *ehm* something since I moved to Fedora, and I’m pleased with the packaged applications: Hydrogen 0.9.4-svn and Ardour 2.8.
Both applications are great and high quality software. It’s a pity I’m not such good musician, but I had fun recording this *ehm* version of the song.
PS: some feed readers won’t show the flash player, so you’re safe because you can’t listen to the song.
The bass sounds horrible, this is the first time I play the song and I can’t sing like Bono. Besides that, I don’t know how to sing it. Nevermind, the point was to waste the evening.
