Awesome First Two Days in London
I must stress the first two days part, because I have another two days left before going back to Valencia. Kewl.
The first part of the trip has got to its end, and Alex is back to Plymouth (she’s about to land at the time I’m writing this), and has been perfect! Everything went surprisingly smooth, even being our first visit to London. Lucky us we didn’t get lost!
Next two days I’ll be alone enjoying the city (tomorrow I’ll be in a museum tour), and then I’ll check if the luck was all Alex’s heh.
The guy in the photo is Leo the gentle lion visiting the British Museum. Don’t ask, it’s part of a project for Alex’s classes.

Today is my second day in Plymouth, and I must say it’s a nice city (more than I expected; the Hoe and the Barbican are my favourite places - Smeaton’s Tower in the picture).
The bad part of the trip is Alex is staying in the college facilities, and that’s near of the university (and the airport, you can go Alex’s by a little walk), but far away of everything. Basically I think a car is needed to have a comfortably day to day living in the area, or just waste big amounts of time using the bus (that it’s fast, but still bus though and needs 35 minutes average to arrive to Plymouth centre).
But I’m happy, staying with Alex, and even the weather has been nice until now (today we have some drizzle, but it’s something I can live with).
I have two more days left, and then I’ll be back in Valencia with some more holiday days (that I’ll try to spend starting a new project!).

Back to Work

Frankfurt Skyline

That were just four days, but they were intense. I’m trying to recover while returning to work, and It’s very hard heh.

I’m uploading photos to a set in my Flickr, and it’s the first time I’m using Nautilus Flickr Uplader, and I’m pleased with it, although there are some glitches I must deal with in next releases.

The most important thing to fix it’s the uploading process, that should be moved to a thread ASAP, because the lack of responsiveness in the UI it’s one of the most annoying things you can find in a desktop application.

I think I’ll need several days to recover, and almost the same time to upload all the photos I shot in this four day trip.

Ready for Frankfurt

I hope, because I don’t speak a word in German.

The first part of the travel will be flying from Valencia to Madrid, and then from Madrid to Frankfurt. After that, S-Bahn direction Frankfurt City, with Konstablerwache as destination, where I’ll wait for my friend Dani.

After leaving my luggage at Dani’s, I’ll be alone in the city for some time while Dani’s working hard to get Germany out of the financial crisis.

The area is very nice, so I’ll be taking photos near the Frankfurt Center, the Frankfurter Dom, the Römerplatz, and so on. All my camera’s batteries are charging, this trip promises to set my camera on fire. Be careful if you’re in the area, because you could be shot.

What’s your Perfect Climate?
Alex is moving to Plymouth in a week and a half, and one of the things she’s going to face is a climate change: Plymouth (UK) is very different to Valencia (Spain).
About 14 degrees of temperature change, that’s so much! I hope she doesn’t get ill. She’s lived in Dublin for a year or so, so I think she will adapt fine to the weather.
I’m from Elche (Alicante, Spain), and the climate in Elche is very similar to the climate in Valencia: soft springs, autumns and winters, and hot summers, ever with high humidity levels (that makes you sweat and sweat in terrible summers, and a cold that chills your bones in winter). You’ll see more rain in Valencia than in Elche, though.
I know this is simplifying too much (because air conditioning can save you in summer), but this is not the kind of climate I like most. I prefer some cold, but softer summers, and definitely I like rainy days (not windy, please heh).
I was in Bilbao for 15 months, and you can hear about they climate that is awful, but I like it. Rainy, very soft summers, not so cold winters, and a very green land with a clean air pleasant to breath.
So I know what I like and what I don’t. What’s your perfect climate?

Bad News and a Trip to Vigo

I deserve it, because I chose not to pay the cancelation insurance, and when you’re going to a wedding… Now I feel dumb.

I was pretty sure that the wedding wan’t going to be canceled, but I was thinking just the usual reasons. Seems that there are other reasons to put off a wedding, such as medical reasons: the bride has severe health problems, and the wedding will take place next year.

I’m very sad and worried about my friends, and I wish with all my heart that she’ll recover from this bad time. I’m sure they’ll have a wonderful wedding after all.

To sum up: I have a plane ticket to Vigo 17th July and back to Valencia 20th July, and nothing planned to do. I suppose that other wedding guests are in the same situation, and I have some good friends in Galicia, so I think that I’ll go to Vigo anyway.
